IWRM Conference  20 - 21 March

Over the last three years, the Ministry of Environment of the Government of Rwanda, through the Water for Growth Rwanda, seized the opportunity of World Water Day (March 22), squeezed in between the International Day of Forests ( March 21) and The World Meteorological Day(March 23), to organise a modest conference on Integrated Water Resources Management issues.

The main goal of these conferences was to create an opportunity for water users and for professional people and technicians involved in managing Rwanda's water resources, to meet, exchange knowledge and best practices, and discuss ways forward to meet the challenges ahead.

A similar, but bigger and better conference is being held this year. We are inviting participants from Catchment Committees, local authorities, farmer representatives, relevant professionals from Government, parastatal agencies, and private sector companies (e.g. mines or agriculture), representatives of relevant projects, and scientists from academia to all come together for this important meeting. We aim for up to 500 participants.

Conference themes include : Water quality; Flood management, Water productivity/Water use efficiency, and Spatial (catchment) planning. Moreover, side events will focus on investing in water resources management, water use, such as irrigation, and institutional development.
